As neighboring countries, Greece and Turkey have strong economic and trade ties.
Greece is the 16th most important export destination for Turkish products, while Turkey is the 5th most important export destination for Greek products. In recent years, there has been a consistent increase in the trade volume between the two countries; from an annual 3.91 billion euros in 2019 to 4.55 billion euros in 2021, and further rising to 5.39 billion euros in 2022.
A range of significant Greek and Turkish companies specializing in construction materials, machinery, plastics, packaging, tourism, and more have established a presence beyond the border.
In 2021, the "Positive Agenda" Joint Government Initiative was launched to promote economic and trade cooperation between Greece and Turkey. Within this framework, a series of thematic meetings are being organized to enhance bilateral collaboration in entrepreneurship, tourism, transportation, energy, science and technology, agriculture, environment, social security and health, youth, education, and sports.
